MAGNETISM explains how Earth’s magnetic field acts like a shield — protecting us from harmful particles from the Sun and outer space. It also helps keep Earth’s water from being blown away by the solar wind.

The show features the first aurora ever seen at the same time from the ground and from the International Space Station. It also highlights NASA’s MMS mission, which studies how Earth connects to the Sun through magnetic energy.

MAGNETISM was created in partnership with the Houston Museum of Natural Science, Rice University, and Evans & Sutherland.

Caperton Planetarium & Theater show tickets may be purchased as an add-on to museum admission, or as “show only” tickets that do not allow access to the museums. Click here for more information.
