Social Media & Visual Identity Manager

SUMMARY: The Social Media & Visual Identity Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the Clay Center's social media strategy while maintaining and strengthening the organization's visual identity across all platforms. This position creates engaging digital content, oversees the Clay Center's social media presence, manages and mentors social media interns, and ensures all visual and digital communications consistently reflect the Clay Center brand. The Social Media & Visual Identity Manager leads the planning, coordination, and oversight of photography and videography efforts to build and maintain a comprehensive, high-quality catalog of visual assets that support marketing, fundraising, membership, education, performances, exhibitions, and community engagement. This position collaborates with departments across the organization to tell the Clay Center's story through compelling, cohesive, and visually engaging content.


SALARY RANGE:
$50,000 - $55,000

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Public Relations, or related field.

  • Experience: At least 2–4 years of professional experience managing social media, digital marketing, brand management, communications, or related experience. Experience supervising interns or student employees preferred.

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.); experience with social media management platforms, analytics tools, Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite; photography and video editing software preferred.

  • Other Requirements: Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills; strong visual design and branding abilities; photography and videography experience preferred; knowledge of current social media trends and best practices; excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; creative problem-solving skills; willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to support organizational events and social media coverage.

Fall 2026 Social Media Internship

SUMMARY: The Social Media Intern will assist the Clay Center’s marketing team in maintaining an active and engaging social media presence. This objective is done by creating consistent social media content, posting on social media platforms on a regular basis, and engaging with content from community partners through shares, comments, and likes. This position will interact primarily with the marketing team and occasionally with other Clay Center staff.

PAY: $13.50 per hour

WORK SCHEDULE: 8-10 hours per week; to be determined based on availability

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Assist in developing and scheduling engaging content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn)

  • Design eye-catching graphics using existing templates for digital campaigns and stories

  • Support the creation of short-form videos and reels for social media

  • Capture photo and video content from exhibitions, events, and daily museum happenings

  • Monitor social media trends and contribute fresh ideas for audience engagement

  • Help track social media performance metrics and compile analytics reports

  • Help coordinate marketing efforts for upcoming performances, exhibitions, educational programming, and special events

  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, Journalism, or a related field

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and current trends

  • Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Illustrator, or Premiere Pro), or similar design tools

  • Excellent written communication and visual storytelling skills

  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and organized

  • Photography and video editing skills are a plus

  • Passion for the arts, science, and community engagement

Museum Educator

SUMMARY: The Museum Educator brings science and art education to all visitors of the Clay Center through engaging visitor interactions, programs, workshops, and presentations. As a member of the Education Team, the Museum Educator develops and delivers creative programs on art and science and interacts with audiences of various ages and backgrounds. The Educator also leads, trains, and schedules part-time staff (Discovery Leaders and volunteers). Assists in delivering the Center outreach program Clay2Go throughout the State of West Virginia, which involves minimal travel.

SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of this position is to provide all guests with a positive initial experience at the Clay Center. This experience is created by providing guests with accurate event information, assisting them in purchasing and/or picking up tickets to Clay Center events as well as daily museum admission. This position interacts with a variety of constituents and works with all other staff of the Clay Center & WV Symphony Orchestra to maintain a high level of guest service. SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of this position is to provide excellent customer service while serving patrons of Curiosity Café and making sure guests have a positive dining experience.
