Space Quest

Space Quest

Space Quest Family Fun Day is a science-filled, family-focused event designed to inspire curiosity and creativity in children through fun, hands-on exploration of space and STEM concepts.

Throughout the day, families will engage in interactive experiences that make learning about space both accessible and exciting.

We’ll also have a space lab training pass where you get a sticker for completing the different activities and receive a prize.

What to Expect✨:

What’s Up in the Universe (12:00 PM and 3:00 PM)
– Enjoy an engaging look at current celestial highlights, recent discoveries and what you can spot in the sky tonight. This lively planetarium program guides guests through planets, stars and seasonal constellations while sharing fun updates from the world of astronomy.

Mars Rover Robot Challenge (11:00 AM to 4:00 PM) – Use programmable robots to navigate a maze inspired by real Mars rover exploration. Families can test their problem-solving skills as they guide their robot through obstacles and mission scenarios.

Wonder Lab: Lunar Lander (11:00 AM, 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM) – Design and build a prototype lander that protects a marshmallow astronaut during a drop test. Guests explore engineering concepts such as stability, cushioning and impact resistance while creating their own imaginative lander models.

Solar Viewing with Digital Telescopes (Weather Dependent) – Visitors can safely observe the Sun using advanced digital solar telescopes operated by museum staff. Depending on cloud cover, guests may see sunspots, surface textures and possibly the waxing quarter Moon.

Space Discovery Carts (Various Times) – Explore real meteorites and other fascinating space specimens through hands-on discovery carts. Guests can examine textures, weights and unique features while learning fun facts from staff and volunteers.

This event is free with museum admission.

Note: All Caperton Planetarium & Theater show tickets may be purchased as an add-on to museum admission, or as “show only” tickets that do not allow access to the museums. Tickets may be purchased at the Clay Center Box Office.
