SCI Talk: What About Pluto?

"Hey, what about Pluto!?" is a question that many have been asking for the last twenty years since Pluto's unceremonious demotion from planet to dwarf planet. But why exactly did this happen? What makes something a planet instead of a dwarf planet, moon, or asteroid? What happened with Pluto specifically? Explore the fascinating world(s) of planetary science, discover what goes into the requirements to be a planet, and learn how and why Pluto was the catalyst for a change that everyone has a strong opinion on.

This presentation is led by our Planetarium and Science Educator, Shannon Silverman, who studies high-energy astrophysics with a particular focus on neutron stars. She is a graduate of the University of North Dakota and the University of North Florida.
