LowDown Brass Band | Cecil I. Walker Jazz Series

LowDown Brass Band | Cecil I. Walker Jazz Series

Based in Chicago and built for the world stage, LowDown Brass Band is a high-energy horn ensemble blending the power of brass with conscious hip hop, reggae, soul, and the raw pulse of the city. Their sound is unmistakably their own deeply rooted in Chicago, but always pushing forward.

A relentless live act, LowDown has taken their explosive performances around the globe, from legendary festivals like the Montreal Jazz Festival, Chicago Jazz Festival, Electric Forest, Bonnaroo, and countless stages across North America and Europe. They bring a unique combination of musicianship, rhythm, and street level energy that turns every performance into a celebration.

Their last three albums, "The Reel Sessions", "LowDown Nights", and "Citizens of the World", showcase the band’s evolution and their fearless approach to blending genres, sounds, and cultures.

LowDown Brass Band continues to break boundaries, represent Chicago, and create a sound that lives somewhere between the jazz club, the hip hop block party, and the global festival stage.

The Cecil I. Walker Jazz Series is supported by the Cecil I. Walker Charitable Trust.

The Clay Center’s performing and visual arts offerings are presented with financial assistance from the West Virginia Department of Tourism and the National Endowment for the Arts.
