Steam Roll Print Day
October 7 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
The Clay Center Sculpture Garden will come to life on Saturday, October 7th for the inaugural Steamroller Print Day! In collaboration with the Clay Center’s own Juliet Art Museum, West Virginia State University and West Virginia Wesleyan; guests will have the opportunity to see the exciting art of steamroller printing in action.
This cooperative event will bring together students, artists and the community to have fun while making prints. University students will create large scale relief printing blocks, working over the course of a month leading up to the event in preparation. These young artists will utilize traditional hand tools as well as electric carvers, saws and routers to create their relief blocks. These blocks will then be brought to the Clay Center to be inked and printed using a steamroller. This day time event will feature music, local food trucks and family fun; all centered around woodblock printing and will take place in the Sculpture Garden at the Clay Center.
