Sensory Sensitive Sunday

September 17, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

The Clay Center strives to provide a supportive environment for children and families to have the best experience possible. Sensory Sensitive Sunday is a wonderful, quarterly opportunity for parents of children with special needs to connect with other families!
Sensory Sensitive Sunday is an exclusive event for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and sensory processing differences to have a fun, enjoyable and interactive learning experience in a comfortable and accepting environment! Staff goes through the Museum ahead of time to turn down lights, limit extra sounds and stop distracting motions. Extra signage is added to help visitors determine things not to climb on, and entrances between exhibits where it is good to stop and wait for an adult before continuing.

Our Sensory Sensitive Days offer a wonderful relief from extra stimuli while still enjoying all the Clay Center has to offer. These exclusive events include the following modifications:
• Less crowded environment
• Light and sound reduction
• Extra visual safety signage

Reminder – The Clay Center Parking lot will be under construction during this event.  For your convenience, we have arranged alternative parking at the Capital Hotel on Leon Sullivan Way.  Please refer to the map below for more specific direction.  We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to our new and improved lot opening this fall!
