Sci-Talk with Al Najjar
James Webb Space Telescope: An Introduction
Tuesday, December 28
4:00 PM

Join Clay Center President & CEO (and resident astronomer) Al Najjar for a brand-new Sci-Talk featuring an introduction to the James Webb Space Telescope! The James Webb Space Telescope is the world’s premier space science observatory, scheduled to launch on December 25th. Webb will solve mysteries in our solar system, look beyond to distant worlds around other stars, and probe the mysterious structures and origins of our universe.

Sci-Talk with Al Najjar will take place on Tuesday, December 28th and Thursday, December 30th at 4:00PM.  This presentation is intended for an advanced audience (adult/high school level students).  Tickets are available now online and at the Clay Center Box Office for $5.00 per person.

About the James Webb Space Telescope: The James Webb Space Telescope is the largest and most powerful space science telescope ever built. It will unfold the universe, transforming how we think about the night sky and our place in the cosmos. The telescope lets us look back to see a period of cosmic history never before observed. Webb can peer into the past because telescopes show us how things were – not how they are right now. It can also explore distant galaxies, farther away than any we’ve seen before.

Webb’s launch is a pivotal moment that exemplifies the dedication, innovation, and ambition behind NASA and its partners, the European Space Agency (ESA) and Canadian Space Agency (CSA), but it is only the beginning. The observatory’s six months of commissioning in space is an exciting but harrowing time, during which thousands of parts and sequences all must work correctly together, almost a million miles from Earth. This period culminates when the telescope begins to collect and transmit data back to Earth – a truly momentous celebration for the mission, NASA, the United States, and the world.
