Origami Paper Crane Workshop

Schedule of events:
2:00-2:15 Welcome, Kamishibai story telling “Sadako’s one thousand paper cranes.” Kamishibai is a traditional Japanese storytelling method using story cards with art.  The story will be told in both Japanese and English.
2:15-2:30 Easy Origami practice (origami heart, cat, etc)
2:30-2:45 Paper crane making (big one and small one)

Repeat for session 2 beginning at 3:00 PM.

This workshop will be led by volunteers from Marshall University’s Japanese Department and the WV International School. by All supplies are included in this workshop that is open to the public and included in the cost of admission.  Advanced registration is not necessary, and space will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Participants will donate one small paper crane and take the rest home.

This workshop is in conjunction with the exhibit, The Floating World presented with support from the Elliot Family Foundation, the Charles & Mary Fayne Glotfelty Foundation, Fund for the Arts (The Clay Center salutes the following major donors to Fund for the Arts whose annual gifts of $10,000 or more help keep all the arts thriving in our area including City of Charleston, Cecil I. Walker Charitable Foundation, Daywood Foundation, Spilman, Thomas & Battle PLLC),  the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture, and History and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
