STEM Educator I Full Time I Full Job Description: STEM Educator 3.7.21

The STEM Educator is passionate about sharing their STEM knowledge with audiences of all ages. Staying up-to-date on current events in astronomy and science news, the STEM Educator will work with the Education Team to develop and deliver engaging educational programs, events and presentations for the Caperton Planetarium & Theater and the Avampato Discovery Museum. They will coordinate all software and technical-related aspects of the planetarium systems with the Clay Center’s Technical Coordinator and third-party contractors to ensure optimum operating conditions for the theater and its systems. Title: Clay Center Summer Camp Internship
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:30AM – 4:30PM (with hour lunch)
Start Date: Monday, June 7th  
End Date: Friday, August 13th
Stipend: $6,000

Job Description:

Clay Center Summer Camp Intern will assist students ages 6-11 at various knowledge and experience levels in a variety of hands-on activities. Summer camps include topics such as chemistry, maker/DIY, art, exploring the outdoors and more.  Persons who are working toward an Elementary Education degree, are self-motivated, willing to quickly learn new skills, and have experience working with children will receive priority consideration.


  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Full-time student enrolled in one of the 13 Academic Affiliates of the NASA Space Grant Consortium (Bethany College, Bluefield State College, Community and Technical College System of WV, Fairmont State University, Glenville State College, Marshall University, Shepherd University, West Liberty University, WV State University, WVU, WVU-IT, WWV Wesleyan College, Wheeling University)
  • GPA of 3.0
