The Marketing & Communications Manager will lead the development and implementation of public relations and marketing efforts of the Clay Center.  This position will manage all marketing resources to create effective marketing campaigns that can be measured through attendance, memberships, subscriptions, public exposure, earned media and visitor surveys.  Serve as a key and active ambassador to the community and various Center audiences to increase awareness and establish engagement and partnerships.  Ensure effective communications between various Center teams to project accurate, audience appropriate and timely promotions of the Center’s activities.  Develop strong and dynamic relationships with local media and public groups to increase ‘earned media’ and establish grassroots mechanisms for promoting the Center’s various programs and performances.

The Curator will help define and implement the artistic direction of the Center’s Juliet Art Museum by leading and directing the collecting efforts, exhibitions as well as the programmatic and educational activities of the museum.  The Curator will creatively and consistently engage local and regional communities to grow and diversify audiences and promote the museum as a leader in the arts and as a vital resource for education.  The Curator will actively engage local and Region-wide communities of artists and position the museum as a catalyst for the arts. STEM Educator I Full Time I Full Job Description: STEM Educator 3.7.21

The STEM Educator is passionate about sharing their STEM knowledge with audiences of all ages. Staying up-to-date on current events in astronomy and science news, the STEM Educator will work with the Education Team to develop and deliver engaging educational programs, events and presentations for the Caperton Planetarium & Theater and the Avampato Discovery Museum. They will coordinate all software and technical-related aspects of the planetarium systems with the Clay Center’s Technical Coordinator and third-party contractors to ensure optimum operating conditions for the theater and its systems. If you are a student in a STEM-related field of study or Elementary Education who is eager for new experiences that will add to your personal and professional development, then this internship is perfect for you!  

Title: Clay Center Summer Camp Internship
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:30AM – 4:30PM (with hour lunch)
Start Date: Monday, June 7th  
End Date: Friday, August 13th
Stipend: $6,000

Job Description:

Clay Center Summer Camp Intern will assist students ages 6-11 at various knowledge and experience levels in a variety of hands-on activities. Summer camps include topics such as chemistry, maker/DIY, art, exploring the outdoors and more.  Persons who are working toward an Elementary Education degree, are self-motivated, willing to quickly learn new skills, and have experience working with children will receive priority consideration.

 Eligibility:

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Full-time student enrolled in one of the 13 Academic Affiliates of the NASA Space Grant Consortium (Bethany College, Bluefield State College, Community and Technical College System of WV, Fairmont State University, Glenville State College, Marshall University, Shepherd University, West Liberty University, WV State University, WVU, WVU-IT, WWV Wesleyan College, Wheeling University)
  • GPA of 3.0
