General Box Office Policies
On show nights, the doors to the lobby will open one hour before show time. The doors to the performance hall will open 30 minutes before show time. If you need to use a ramp or an elevator instead of stairs, an usher would be happy to assist you to your seat.
Cash, Checks, Cashier Checks, Credit Cards
The Clay Center is not responsible for tickets purchased through unauthorized third parties.
Gift Certificates of any amount are available for purchase at the Clay Center Box Office.
Convenience Charge of $5 per transaction will be added to any ticket order placed over the phone.
If you have misplaced or lost your ticket for a performance, you may get your tickets re-printed at the Box Office on the night of the show. Please provide a photo ID to confirm credentials.
The Clay Center does enforce a “No Refund, No Exchange” policy. If you are unable to attend a performance, you have the option to “angel” your ticket. By angeling your ticket, you are returning your ticket as a donation to the Clay Center, which will become tax-deductable.
To angel your ticket, bring your ticket to the Clay Center Box Office anytime before the performance. You will receive a letter in the mail confirming your donation, to use on your next year’s tax return.
If the amount you pay for a ticket is incorrect, then the Clay Center will have the right to cancel that ticket (or the order for that ticket) and refund to you the amount that you paid.
License, Ejection and Cancellation - No Redemption Value
Clay Center staff reserves the right, without refund of any amount paid, to refuse admission to, or eject, any person whose conduct management deems disorderly, who uses vulgar or abusive language or who fails to comply with staff instruction. Breach of terms or rules will terminate your license to attend the event without refund. A ticket is a revocable license, and admission may be refused upon refunding the ticket's face amount. A ticket is not redeemable for cash.
Recording, Transmission and Exhibition
You agree not to record, transmit or aid in recording or transmitting, any description, account, picture or reproduction of the event. You grant permission to utilize your image, likeness, actions and statements in any live or recorded audio, video or photographic display or other transmission, exhibition, publication or reproduction made of, or at, the event (regardless of whether before, during or after play or performance) in any medium or context without further authorization or compensation.
You Are Subject to Search
You and your belongings may be searched on entry. You consent to such searches and waive any related claims that may arise. If you elect not to consent to such searches, you may be denied entry to the event without refund or other compensation. Under certain facility rules, certain items may not be brought into the premises, including, without limitation, alcohol, drugs, firearms, controlled substances, cameras, recording devices, bundles and containers.
Re-Sale of Tickets, Commercial Purposes
Re-sale of tickets (or attempt) is grounds for seizure and cancellation without compensation. A ticket shall not be used for advertising, promotions, contests or sweepstakes, unless formal written authorization is given by the Clay Center, provided that, even if such consent is obtained, use of the Clay Center’s logos and trademarks are subject to the Clay Center's consent.
Clay Center Permission to Photograph
Upon entering the Clay Center, each person grants the Center permission to photograph, videotape, record or otherwise reproduce the image and/or voice of that person and all accompanying minors, without compensation, for the Clay Center’s purposes, including copying, distribution and other uses.
Cameras and audio or video recording devices are prohibited in the Maier Foundation Performance Hall.
Seating for Latecomers
Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of management.
Online Ticket Purchasing FAQs
It is important that your online ticket purchasing experience be simple and fast. That’s why we’ve outlined some FAQ’s that may help you. If you still have questions or need further assistance, please contact us during regular Clay Center Box Office hours.
Will having more than one browser window open allow me to choose more tickets or speed up my ticket purchase?
Please use only one browser at a time to hold tickets. Opening a new browser to order a different set of tickets may result in the previous browser closing. This prevents attempts from automated programs.
Tickets were supposed to go on sale at 10 am, but the show is not appearing on the website?
If you log on prior to an on-sale start time, your window must be refreshed for the new information and the addition of a newly added show to be seen.
Do cookies have to be enabled in my browser in order to purchase tickets online?
When you visit our website, our server sends your computer a “cookie.” Cookies are small packets of information that identify you as a user. They save you time by retaining your contact information and help us learn what pages on our site are most helpful to you and other users. Cookies do not deliver viruses and can only be read by the server that sent you the cookie.
Your browser must be set to accept cookies and graphics in order for you to purchase tickets.
Can I use a Proxy Server when I’m purchasing tickets online?
Some online service providers use a device called a proxy server, which, by method of operation, may not connect you directly to our site.
We recommend accessing our site through a direct Internet connection and not through any service using a proxy.
What does the error message “transaction no longer valid” mean?
This error is caused by an interruption to the transaction process during the ticket buying process. Receiving this error means that your request did not make it to the ticketing system.
Please resubmit your request and try again.
You may also receive this error when the system releases your seats because the transaction took too long.
A slow internet connection may also cause this error. You might try disconnecting and then reconnecting to your Internet provider to improve the speed.
Please resubmit your ticket request and complete your order without delay.
How will I know that my ticket order was completed successfully?
If you do not receive a confirmation number (in the form of a confirmation page or email) after submitting payment information, or if you experience an error message or service interruption after submitting payment information, it is your responsibility to confirm with the Clay Center Box Office whether or not your order has been placed. Only you may be aware of any problems that may occur during the purchase process.
Will my tickets purchased online have any added fees?
Tickets are typically subject to a per-ticket convenience charge and a non-refundable order processing fee.
Is there a limit to the number of tickets I can purchase online for an event?
When purchasing tickets, you are limited to a specified number of tickets for each event (also known as a "ticket limit"). This amount is verified with every transaction. This policy is in effect to discourage unfair ticket buying practices.
What do I do if the event for which I purchased tickets is canceled?
In the event of a cancellation or postponed event, the Clay Center will make every effort to get in contact with the ticket holder. Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information for your user account.
How can I find out who the opening acts are?
Opening acts or guests may sometimes tour with headlining performers. The Clay Center does not always have approval of opening acts or the length of their performances. These opening acts are subject to change or cancellation at any time without notice. No refund will be owed if an opening act is changed or canceled.
Can I exchange or return tickets that I have purchased online?
Before purchasing tickets, carefully review your event and seat selection. There are no exchanges or refunds.
