Whether you are attending Carnaval New Orleans or spending your Saturday evening elsewhere, you can still participate in the annual fundraiser for the Clay Center and The Charleston Ballet from home, work or any other location. Get in on the fun of the annual masquerade by bidding in the new online silent auction.

For the first time, the event is partnering with BiddingForGood.com, an auction website for nonprofits. The online silent auction opened earlier this month and will close during the event at 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19. The auction is open to both ticket buyers and people not in attendance.

Friends of Clay Center Board President Madeleine Nibert said the event planning group decided to move the silent auction to an online format in response to the suggestions of supporters.

“We’ve had people who couldn’t attend Carnaval ask if there was another way they could show their support for the Clay Center and The Charleston Ballet,” she said. “By conducting the silent auction online, we’re providing another outlet for the community to give to these two important organizations.”

Bids can be placed online at biddingforgood.com/CarnavalNewOrleans or by downloading the BiddingForGood app on any smartphone.

“For event guests not comfortable with mobile bidding, no worries! We’ll have plenty of easy-to-spot volunteers on hand to provide assistance or place bids for them,” Nibert said.

The online silent auction features a variety of trips, autographed merchandise, gift certificates and much more. New items will be added to the site until the day of the event. Register online and place bids at biddingforgood.com/CarnavalNewOrleans.

Event tickets are $175 if purchased in advance or $200 at the door. Guests must be at least 21 years of age. The event is black tie-optional, and masks and costumes are encouraged.
