Don't miss Party Gras!
Decorate a mask, win prizes in a cake walk, get your face painted and more at the Clay Center’s Party Gras. For the first time, this popular family fun event will take place during evening hours Thursday, Feb. 7 from 5 – 7:30 p.m.
Clay Center President and CEO Judy Wellington said the family favorite was moved to a new time as part of an effort to provide patrons with more evening options.
“We’ve had a great response from our patrons since we started offering family fun nights,” she said. “For those who can’t make it to our typical Saturday afternoon family fun days, this is a chance to enjoy that experience at a more convenient time.”
The complete Party Gras schedule of activities includes:
Valentine crafts, 5 – 7 p.m.
Face painting, 5 – 7 p.m.
Mask making ($2 per mask), 5 – 7 p.m.
Cake walk, 5:30 & 7 p.m.
Giant screen film “Shackleton’s Antarctic Adventure” (separate admission), 6 p.m.
While at the Center, explore the concepts of construction, motion and simple machines by hand-operating a pulley and conveyor belt, turning the wheels of a crane to transport cargo and building unique structures in “Little Builders,” the newest hands-on science exhibit in the Mylan Explore-atory.
Then, go along on an epic story of survival in giant screen film “Shackleton’s Antarctic Adventure.” Film admission is additional.
Plus, admire the amazing skill and craftsmanship of quilters from across the state and around the country in two exhibits featuring their handcrafted works, and see pieces from some of the most talented printmakers of the past half-century in “Tamarind Touchstones: Fabulous at Fifty, Celebrating Excellence in Fine Art Lithography.”
All Party Gras activities, with the exception of mask making and the film screening, are included with gallery admission, which is free for Clay Center members or $6 for children and $7.50 for adults.
