1. How long is my membership active?
Your membership is valid for one year from the month of purchase. For example, if you joined on June 1, 2012, your membership will expire on June 30, 2013.


2. When can I begin enjoying my membership benefits?
If you purchase your membership at the box office, you will be issued a temporary membership card and most benefits will become active immediately. If you purchase your membership online, by phone or through the mail, please allow at least 15 business days for your membership to be processed.


3. As a current member, are my benefits and expiration date still valid?
Yes! Your current membership benefits will expire on your current expiration date. We will remind you approximately 60 days before your current membership ends so that there will not be a lapse in your benefits.


4. I currently have a Family level membership. I want to keep these benefits. Which new basic level membership should I select?
If you like your current Family level membership, select Museum Explorers under the new membership plan. Add a second adult for only $20 to make the total $85 (same as before). The new program lets you keep your current benefits while also automatically enrolling you in our NEW Clay Center Rewards program!


5. May I upgrade my current membership to include the new benefits?
Yes! If you would like to upgrade your current membership benefits to include components of the New Membership Program, please call 304-561-3521 or email membership@theclaycenter.org for details and to get started.

6. Does my membership include my child care provider?
You may add your child care provider to your membership for an additional $20 per year. A total of three adults may be included on a membership. 


7. What are Clay Center Rewards? How do I join?
All members will be automatically enrolled in this hassle-free program and will receive a rewards card along with their membership card. Simply speaking, you are rewarded for using your membership! Each time you visit the Clay Center, your rewards card is stamped. After four visits, you will receive a prize! Your rewards card will expire on the same day as your yearly membership.


8. What is the Reading Art Book Club?
The Reading Art Book Club is the Clay Center’s book club for adults that focuses on the exciting world of art. Our program coordinator carefully selects approximately four to six books each year for participants to delve into during a three-week period. The first week is an art lecture focusing on the book’s art themes. Week two is a discussion of the book, then the final week allows for an inside view of the Clay Center’s permanent collection and other programming.


9. How will I know about exclusive member events?
Stay up-to-date on all exclusive member events via the Members Events section on our website – Membership Events.


10. If my children join Clay KIDS, can they visit the Clay Center without parental supervision?
All kids under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. All non-member adults must pay admission.


11. What are Clay KIDS “monthly birthday celebrations?”
Each month, we will host a birthday party with cake and a science demo for all Clay KIDS celebrating birthdays in that month. This is an exclusive celebration for members of Clay KIDS and the adults on their memberships.


12. Why do I have to show a photo ID when I use my card?
We request a photo ID to help protect members whose cards have been lost or stolen.


13. May I use my membership toward a group tour?
No. Discounted rates are in place for group tours. However, a parent chaperone not included in a group’s reservation may use his membership when visiting with his child’s organization.


14. What is an Access to Excitement membership? 
This special membership program provides families who receive Medicaid, SNAP, WIC or CHIP with unlimited museum gallery admission, planetarium shows and more for just $20 per year. An Access membership includes two adults and all children in the household under age 18.
