Does it cost anything to enter the Clay Center? What is the difference between Clay Center Presents performances and other performances at the Clay Center?FAQs AND FUN FACTS
Frequently Asked Questions
This is a major misconception about the Clay Center. There is no admission fee to enter the doors of the building. By just walking through the doors, you gain free access to the Box Office, the BB&T Little Shop of Wonders Gift Shop and the Douglas V. Reynolds Intermezzo Cafe. You do have to pay admission to the interactive science exhibits of the Avampato Discovery Museum, the Juliet Museum of Art, and the ElectricSky™ Theater, which includes planetarium shows, large-format films and laser shows. You must also purchase tickets to performances.
Many people may not realize certain parts of the Clay Center can be rented by outside groups. One area available for rent is the Maier Foundation Performance Hall, the main theater in the Clay Center. Other areas for rent can be found on the Rent Our Facility section of this website or by clicking on this link.
In other words, there may be events at the Clay Center that the Clay Center only handles ticketing for the event. The Clay Center does not control the dates, times, prices, the date tickets go on sale and/or any of the marketing for these events.
The Clay Center Presents season is its own performance season which begins in September and ends in May. These performances are completely separate from the Broadway Series, the Woody Hawley Concert Series, the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra Series, and any other performances, rental or otherwise, held in the Clay Center.
