All new planetarium show Jupiter: Planetary Giant to premiere at the Clay Center July 14

(Charleston, W.Va.) 6/23/10 – Clay Center guests will have the chance to explore the mysteries of the largest planet in the solar system in the newest planetarium show Jupiter: Planetary Giant. This fascinating show will begin screening in the ElectricSkyTM Theater Wednesday, July 14. Show times will be Wednesday through Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Sundays at noon and 2 p.m. All shows are followed by a live, seasonal star talk.

This Clay Center exclusive, entirely produced by Clay Center staff, travels to the outer reaches of the solar system to explore not only the massive planet, but also the entire Jovian system. Viewers will discover what makes up Jupiter’s composition and how it differs from other planets that are closer to the sun, as well as learn about the discovery of the four Galilean moons: Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto.

Jupiter: Planetary Giant also investigates mission highlights and unexpected problems of NASA’s Galileo probe. Scientists have used the probe’s data, along with other research, to form numerous preconceptions, subsequent discoveries and current theories about the Jovian system. The planetarium show will detail several of these findings and provide a behind the scenes look into the far off world of this celestial creation.
