Clay Center offers activities for kids during spring break
(Charleston, W.Va.) 3/9/10 – This spring break, children can use their time off from school to discover the enchanting world of art and science at the Clay Center with Spring Break Activities and the all-new Spring Break Camp.
Spring Break Activities offers kids the chance to learn about a variety of artists and create their own artworks similar to the well-known masterpieces of each painter or sculptor. Activities are Wednesday, March 24 through Sunday, March 28 from noon to 4 p.m. each day.
The Spring Break Activities schedule includes:
• Wednesday, March 24 – Artist: Paul Cézanne; Activity: Still Life Drawing
• Thursday, March 25 – Artist: Georges Seurat; Activity: Pointillism Pictures
• Friday, March 26 – Artist: Piet Mondrian; Activity : Construction Paper Abstract
• Saturday, March 27 – Eggstravaganza!
• Sunday, March 28 – Artist: Auguste Rodin; Activity: Sculpture
Children will also have the chance to attend our Spring Break Camp: How Things Work on Tuesday, March 23 through Friday, March 26 from 10 a.m. to noon each day. Come and explore how all kinds of everyday things, from music to machinery, are able to do what they do. The registration fee is $35 for Clay Center members or $45 for non-members. Also happening during this week is the annual Eggstravaganza family fun day. Activities take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This fun-filled day will feature egg hunts, egg relays, egg tosses, egg decorating and even egg science. Hear spring stories, make bunny ears and meet the Easter bunny.
All children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. All activities, excluding the Spring Break Camp, are included with museum gallery admission, which is free for Clay Center members or just $5.50 for children and $7 for adults.
