Celebrate Mardi Gras and Valentine’s Day with family fun at Clay Center

Decorate a festive mask, win prizes in a cake walk, get your face painted and more at Party Gras, Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Clay Center. This ever-popular family fun day will keep kids busy with a variety of exciting activities from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The complete Party Gras schedule of activities includes:
• Valentine crafts, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
• Story time, 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. & 3:30 p.m.
• Dance party, noon & 2 p.m.
• Cake walk, 1 & 3 p.m.
• Science demos, 1, 2 & 3 p.m.
• Face painting, noon – 3:30 p.m.
• Mask making ($2 per mask), noon – 4 p.m.
While at the Center, guests can examine environmental issues involving laundry, composting, transportation and more in “Sustainable Choices,” the newest hands-on exhibit in the Mylan Explore-atory. Then, see fun and interesting photographs of animals from the George Eastman House collection in “Why Look at Animals?,” learn about Native American culture through an assortment of contemporary prints in “Migrations” and watch an eclipse from a variety of viewpoints through a compilation of YouTube videos in “It’s All Relative.”
Discover the mystery behind Saturn’s famous rings and find out how this massive gas giant was discovered by early astronomers in the “Saturn: Ringed World” planetarium show. Plus, surf through the science of waves in “The Ultimate Wave: Tahiti” and journey into the middle and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in "Hurricane on the Bayou," two exciting giant screen films.
All Party Gras activities, with the exception of mask making, are included with gallery admission, which is free for Clay Center members or $6 for children and $7.50 for adults.
