A fun afternoon of beer, cornhole and live music at Friends of Clay Center Oktoberfest fundraiser
(Charleston, W.Va.) 9/3/09 – Friends of Clay Center’s favorite fall fundraiser is back with new brews, live entertainment and a rousing cornhole tournament. The sixth annual Oktoberfest event takes place Saturday, Sept. 26 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Appalachian Power Park. All proceeds benefit the Clay Center’s educational programs.
In addition to enjoying great food and beer, guests can listen to live music from contemporary acoustic/electric trio Souvenir. The cornhole tournament is returning after a successful debut at last year’s event. The first 16 teams to arrive at 1 p.m. will be signed up to play. Form a team, create a fun name, put on your team uniform and compete to win prizes, including cash.
Admission is $25 per person at the gate, which includes beer tastings and a commemorative Oktoberfest cup (while supplies last). The separate cornhole entry fee is $15 per person with two people per team. Food is not included in admission.
Oktoberfest is sponsored by Francis, Nelson & Brison, PLLC with additional support provided by City of Charleston, Kanawha Stone/Terradon, Mountaineer Packaging, Star USA Federal Credit Union, Valley West Veterinary Hospital and West Virginia Power.
Those attending must be at least 21 and present a valid ID upon admission. Backpacks, coolers, outside food and pets are not permitted. For more information about Oktoberfest, visit www.theclaycenter.org.
